Spiderwick Chronicles - Writing

Writing

DiTerlizzi stated that, due to the collaborative effort he and Black put into the books, there is no individual credit as to who did the writing and who did the illustrations. But three kids left a note for Holly and Tony and let them both see the original field guide in which Tony redid and published. However, Tony was responsible for the illustrations and helped with plot forming, and wrote some sections, but ultimately Holly was the writer and he the illustrator.

Famous quotes containing the word writing:

All modern American literature comes from one book by Mark Twain called Huckleberry Finn.... American writing comes from that. There was nothing before. There has been nothing as good since.
    Ernest Hemingway (1899–1961)

The human head is bigger than the globe. It conceives itself as containing more. It can think and rethink itself and ourselves from any desired point outside the gravitational pull of the earth. It starts by writing one thing and later reads itself as something else. The human head is monstrous.
    Günther Grass (b. 1927)

Writing is not like painting where you add. It is not what you put on the canvas that the reader sees. Writing is more like a sculpture where you remove, you eliminate in order to make the work visible. Even those pages you remove somehow remain.
    Elie Wiesel (b. 1928)
