South Tampa - Description

Description

South Tampa has two common use meanings. Geographically South Tampa is located on the Interbay Peninsula and it is surrounded by Tampa Bay, Hillsborough Bay, and West Tampa. Its main roadways include Dale Mabry Highway, Gandy Boulevard, West Shore Boulevard, Bayshore Boulevard, Bay to Bay Boulevard, and the Lee Roy Selmon Expressway. The area begins immediately south of Kennedy Blvd. Used to describe a socio-economic unit, people often refer to South Tampa as the area between Kennedy Blvd to the north and Gandy Boulevard to the south with the area north of this border referred to as North of Kennedy (NOK) and the area south of this border referred to as South of Gandy (SOG). The implication is that South Tampa is a more affluent area than NOK or SOG, with the exception of Ballast Point. Ballast point is the neighborhood surrounding the prestigious Tampa Yacht Club.

Famous quotes containing the word description:

Everything to which we concede existence is a posit from the standpoint of a description of the theory-building process, and simultaneously real from the standpoint of the theory that is being built. Nor let us look down on the standpoint of the theory as make-believe; for we can never do better than occupy the standpoint of some theory or other, the best we can muster at the time.
Willard Van Orman Quine (b. 1908)

As they are not seen on their way down the streams, it is thought by fishermen that they never return, but waste away and die, clinging to rocks and stumps of trees for an indefinite period; a tragic feature in the scenery of the river bottoms worthy to be remembered with Shakespeare’s description of the sea-floor.
    Henry David Thoreau (1817–1862)

Do not require a description of the countries towards which you sail. The description does not describe them to you, and to- morrow you arrive there, and know them by inhabiting them.
    Ralph Waldo Emerson (1803–1882)
