South Camden Community School - School Uniform

School Uniform

The school uniform is compulsory for students who are not in the sixth form. The new RHS uniform has black trousers, striped ties with black and the colour of the student’s school "community", a grey jumper and navy blazers with the new logo. Students on free school meals and all those in year 11 will be given financial help with half the cost of the uniform.

The old SCCS uniform had a light-blue polo shirt embroidered with the school logo, a navy-blue school sweatshirt or fleece embroidered with the logo, black trousers or, for girls, a plain black skirt or navy-blue shalwar kameez and black shoes or black trainers. Girls could wear a plain navy, black, or white headscarf for religious reasons. Sanctions for not wearing the correct uniform vary from a detention, sending the offender home to change or occasionally more serious action involving the offender's parents or guardian.

Most of the old uniform can only be purchased from the school. Neither the OFT's 2006 inquiry into the cost of school uniform nationally nor the OFT's subsequent statement have changed this.

School days, school days; dear old golden rule days.
Readin’ and ‘ritin’ and ‘rithmetic; taught to the tune of a hick’ry stick.
    Will D. Cobb (1876–1930)

The Federal Constitution has stood the test of more than a hundred years in supplying the powers that have been needed to make the Central Government as strong as it ought to be, and with this movement toward uniform legislation and agreements between the States I do not see why the Constitution may not serve our people always.
    William Howard Taft (1857–1930)
