The signal level in an audio signal chain, on an audio recording, or in a radio frequency communication is the measure of the level of the signal emitted or received. Signal level is often related to signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) in the fields of communication theory, science, and engineering, which measures the ratio between an arbitrary signal level and noise. Signal level is also used to transment information. Mostly used for things like cable and satellite TV.
Famous quotes containing the words signal and/or level:
“Perhaps having built a barricade when youre sixteen provides you with a sort of safety rail. If youve once taken part in building one, even inadvertently, doesnt its usually latent image reappear like a warning signal whenever youre tempted to join the police, or support any manifestation of Law and Order?”
—Jean Genet (19101986)
“Young children learn in a different manner from that of older children and adults, yet we can teach them many things if we adapt our materials and mode of instruction to their level of ability. But we miseducate young children when we assume that their learning abilities are comparable to those of older children and that they can be taught with materials and with the same instructional procedures appropriate to school-age children.”
—David Elkind (20th century)
