Shambhala Publications


Shambhala Publications is an independent publishing company based in Boston, Massachusetts. According to the company, it specializes in "books that present creative and conscious ways of transforming the individual, the society, and the planet". Many of its books deal with Buddhism or related topics. It is named for Shambhala, a mystical kingdom hidden somewhere beyond the snowpeaks of the Himalayas in the Tibetan Buddhist tradition. Among its major authors are Chögyam Trungpa, Thomas Cleary, Ken Wilber, Fritjof Capra, Pema Chödrön, A. H. Almaas, John Daido Loori, John Stevens, Edward Espe Brown and Natalie Goldberg. Other authors include Shunryu Suzuki, David Richo, Dzongsar Jamyang Khyentse Rinpoche, Dzigar Kongtrul Rinpoche, Jan Chozen Bays, and Joan Halifax.
