Theatre
Seycove Secondary has a theatre program and its own distinctive black box theatre, nicknamed "The Vortex." There are two special events that occur in alternating years: the One Act Play Festival, which consists of one-act plays written and directed by students in the senior (grade 11 and 12) acting program, and the Spring Play, which is open to all members of the Drama department. Past productions include Tennessee Williams's The Glass Menagerie; Woody Allen's Play It Again, Sam; and William Shakespeare's Twelfth Night. For the 2008 spring season, the Senior Acting Troupe put on a production of Arthur Miller's The Crucible.

Famous quotes containing the word theatre:
“To save the theatre, the theatre must be destroyed, the actors and actresses must all die of the plague. They poison the air, they make art impossible. It is not drama that they play, but pieces for the theatre. We should return to the Greeks, play in the open air: the drama dies of stalls and boxes and evening dress, and people who come to digest their dinner.”
—Eleonora Duse (18581924)
“... the theatre demanded of its members stamina, good digestion, the ability to adjust, and a strong sense of humor. There was no discomfort an actor didnt learn to endure. To survive, we had to be horses and we were.”
—Helen Hayes (19001993)
“Make them laugh, make them cry, and back to laughter. What do people go to the theatre for? An emotional exercise.... I am a servant of the people. I have never forgotten that.”
—Mary Pickford (18931979)
