He was elected to membership in the US National Academy of Engineering (1996); the Indian National Academy of Engineering (1997); Academy of Sciences for the Developing World (2003, Trieste), Member, European Academy of Sciences (2002), and National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine (2008).
