Famous quotes containing the word acting:
“I have no acting technique.... I act instinctively. That’s why I can’t play any role that isn’t based on something in my life.”
—Ethel Waters (1900–1977)
“The old-fashioned idea that the simple piling up of experiences, one on top of another, can make you an artist, is, of course, so much rubbish. If acting were just a matter of experience, then any busy harlot could make Garbo’s Camille pale.”
—Helen Hayes (1900–1993)
“Acting is the expression of a neurotic impulse. It’s a bum’s life.... The principal benefit acting has afforded me is the money to pay for my psychoanalysis.”
—Marlon Brando (b. 1924)
