S. E. Hinton - Personal Life

Personal Life

Hinton states that she is a private person who is not comfortable talking about her personal life. She has revealed, however, that she enjoys reading (Jane Austen, Mary Renault, F. Scott Fitzgerald), writing, taking classes at the local university, and horseback riding.

Hinton is also a fan of the TV series Supernatural, having visited the set on a number of occasions. She appeared as an extra in the season 7 episode Slash Fiction.

She currently resides with her husband David Inhofe, a software engineer, whom she married in the summer of 1970 after meeting him in her freshman biology class at college. In August 1983, they became parents to Nicolas David Inhofe, who has worked as a sound effects recordist on the movie Ice Age: The Meltdown.

Famous quotes containing the words personal life, personal and/or life:

A man lives not only his personal life, as an individual, but also, consciously or unconsciously, the life of his epoch and his contemporaries.
    Thomas Mann (1875–1955)

In the twentieth century one of the most personal relationships to have developed is that of the person and the state.... It’s become a fact of life that governments have become very intimate with people, most always to their detriment.
    —E.L. (Edgar Lawrence)

For books are not absolutely dead things, but do contain a potency of life in them to be as active as that soul was whose progeny they are; nay, they do preserve as in a vial the purest efficacy and extraction of that living intellect that bred them. I know they are as lively, and as vigorously productive, as those fabulous dragon’s teeth; and being sown up and down, may chance to spring up armed men.
    John Milton (1608–1674)
