Rumi Maki - Ancient Origins

Ancient Origins

Rumi Maki means "Hand of Stone". Before the Incan era in Peru there were other Andean cultures (Tiahuanaco, Mochica, Chimu and others),each culture contributed knowledge that formed the basis of Rumi Maki. A warrior would engage in tests of physical and mental endurance to prove his status within the tribe. These tests were seen as passage rituals into adulthood, showing their resilience to continue their training in combative arts.

Famous quotes containing the words ancient and/or origins:

It takes place ... always without permanent form, though ancient and familiar as the sun and moon, and as sure to come again.
    Henry David Thoreau (1817–1862)

Compare the history of the novel to that of rock ‘n’ roll. Both started out a minority taste, became a mass taste, and then splintered into several subgenres. Both have been the typical cultural expressions of classes and epochs. Both started out aggressively fighting for their share of attention, novels attacking the drama, the tract, and the poem, rock attacking jazz and pop and rolling over classical music.
