Uniform and Colours
The regiment is known for wearing the crimson trousers that were Prince Albert of Saxe-Coburg's family colour. Prince Albert was escorted from Dover to London by the 11th Hussars prior to his marriage to Queen Victoria. He was subsequently appointed Colonel (in-chief) of the 11th Hussars (hence the crimson trousers).

Famous quotes containing the words uniform and/or colours:
“An accent mark, perhaps, instead of a whole western accenta point of punctuation rather than a uniform twang. That is how it should be worn: as a quiet point of character reference, an apt phrase of sartorial allusionmacho, sotto voce.”
—Phil Patton (b. 1953)
“When we reflect on our past sentiments and affections, our thought is a faithful mirror, and copies its objects truly; but the colours which it employs are faint and dull, in comparison of those in which our original perceptions were clothed.”
—David Hume (17111776)
