Row And Column Spaces
The row space and column space of an m-by-n matrix with real entries is the subspace of Rn generated by the row vectors and column vectors, respectively, of the matrix. Its dimension is equal to the rank of the matrix and is at most min(m,n).
Famous quotes containing the words row, column and/or spaces:
“In Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row,”
—John McCrae (18721918)
“When the landscape buckles and jerks around, when a dust column of debris rises from the collapse of a block of buildings on bodies that could have been your own, when the staves of history fall awry and the barrel of time bursts apart, some turn to prayer, some to poetry: words in the memory, a stained book carried close to the body, the notebook scribbled by handa center of gravity.”
—Adrienne Rich (b. 1929)
“Every true man is a cause, a country, and an age; requires infinite spaces and numbers and time fully to accomplish his design;and posterity seem to follow his steps as a train of clients.”
—Ralph Waldo Emerson (18031882)
