Role of The International Community in The Rwandan Genocide - China

China

China’s international role played two parts within their community, one being a part of the horror that took place and the other side being remorseful. It is already proven that the Rwandan genocide could have been prevented. Both France and China were responsible for supplying the government with military arms. If prevention from the United Nations was taken far more seriously, it could have prevented China and France from funding and/or fueling the genocide and French troops from helping the Hutu power regime flee the country. The Rwandan embassy and China’s communities had organized the events that showed honour towards the lost and injured. These events resided in Beijing and few Rwandan communities. The memorials were marked with silence, prayers, songs and presentations on the history of Rwanda, and taken were the lessons that the world can learn from.

Famous quotes containing the word china:

The awakening of the people of China to the possibilities under free government is the most significant, if not the most momentous, event of our generation.
    Woodrow Wilson (1856–1924)

    The roof of England fell
    Great Paris tolled her bell
And China staunched her milk and wept for bread
    Karl Shapiro (b. 1913)

In a country where misery and want were the foundation of the social structure, famine was periodic, death from starvation common, disease pervasive, thievery normal, and graft and corruption taken for granted, the elimination of these conditions in Communist China is so striking that negative aspects of the new rule fade in relative importance.
    Barbara Tuchman (1912–1989)
