Rocket (The Smashing Pumpkins Song) - Release and Reception

Release and Reception

The single included a cover of "Never Let Me Down Again" by Depeche Mode, though it is always referred as simply "Never Let Me Down". The song was recorded by request of bassist D'arcy Wretzky who is a long-time Depeche Mode fan. It was recorded at the BBC, perhaps in one take. It featured on the Depeche Mode tribute album For the Masses, as well as the soundtrack for the film Not Another Teen Movie.

"Rocket" spent five weeks on the ARIA Charts, peaking at number 26. It also charted within the top 30 on the US Active Rock chart in 1994.

Famous quotes containing the words release and, release and/or reception:

We read poetry because the poets, like ourselves, have been haunted by the inescapable tyranny of time and death; have suffered the pain of loss, and the more wearing, continuous pain of frustration and failure; and have had moods of unlooked-for release and peace. They have known and watched in themselves and others.
    Elizabeth Drew (1887–1965)
