Family

Drake was the third son of John Drake (d.1558), of Ashe in Musbury, Devonshire, and Amy Grenville, daughter of Sir Roger Grenville of Stowe, Cornwall. Drake had two older brothers, Sir Bernard Drake and Robert Drake.
