His current research interests include Jesus and the Gospels, New Testament Christology, and the relevance of the Bible to ecological issues. He gave the Sarum Lectures for 2006 on ‘Beyond Stewardship: The Bible and the Community of Creation,’ and is preparing these for publication. He also gave a recent series of the Scottish Journal of Theology Lectures, in Aberdeen, on ‘The Gospels as History: Comparisons with Ancient and Modern Historiography,’ and these will also soon become a book.

Famous quotes containing the words research and, research, teaching and/or areas:

This teaching is not practical in the sense in which the New Testament is. It is not always sound sense in practice. His active faculties are paralyzed by the idea of caste, of impassable limits of destiny and the tyranny of time.
    Henry David Thoreau (1817–1862)

    William Burroughs (b. 1914)
