Music and Lyrics
Results May Vary is Limp Bizkit's only album under the sole leadership of Fred Durst, who influenced a different direction from the band's established sound. Results May Vary encompasses a variety of styles, including gothic, funk and rap metal. "Gimme the Mic" includes lyrics from Beastie Boys' "Pass the Mic", while "The Only One" samples Steve Miller's "Take the Money and Run".
Durst's breakup with Britney Spears provided lyrical inspiration for the album. The album also features a cover of The Who's "Behind Blue Eyes". It differs from the original's arrangement in its inclusion of a Speak & Spell during the song's bridge.

Famous quotes containing the words music and, music and/or lyrics:
“Good-by, my book! Like mortal eyes, imagined ones must close some day. Onegin from his knees will risebut his creator strolls away. And yet the ear cannot right now part with the music and allow the tale to fade; the chords of fate itself continue to vibrate; and no obstruction for the sage exists where I have put The End: the shadows of my world extend beyond the skyline of the page, blue as tomorrows morning hazenor does this terminate the phrase.”
—Vladimir Nabokov (18991977)
“In benevolent natures the impulse to pity is so sudden, that like instruments of music which obey the touch ... you would think the will was scarce concerned, and that the mind was altogether passive in the sympathy which her own goodness has excited. The truth is,the soul is [so] ... wholly engrossed by the object of pity, that she does not ... take leisure to examine the principles upon which she acts.”
—Laurence Sterne (17131768)
“Chad and I always look for deeper meanings; we can analyze Beastie Boys lyrics for hours.”
—Amy Stewart (b. 1975)
