He later worked for the Philippine government in the area of physical education, spreading arnis instruction through the high schools. Presas was forced to leave the country in 1974 because of pressure from certain government officials. Famous quotes containing the words private, government and/or employment:
“Each mans private conscience ought to be a nice little self-registering thermometer: he ought to carry his moral code incorruptibly and explicitly within himself, and not care what the world thinks. —Katharine Fullerton Gerould (18791944)
“Our government rests in public opinion. Whoever can change public opinion, can change the government, practically just so much.”
—Abraham Lincoln (18091865)
“What exercise is to the body, employment is to the mind and morals.”
—Henry David Thoreau (18171862)
