The communities of Red Lake Reservation tend to have housing units located on each side of only one road, making them appear like rural settlements. Redby has housing units on more cross streets and appears more like a typical town. Yet many of Redby's housing units are located deep in the woods. The Anishinabe citizens of these Red Lake communities, are comfortable with their communities layouts but easily spook as a result of the woods and the rural atmosphere.

Famous quotes containing the word communities:

... feminist solidarity rooted in a commitment to progressive politics must include a space for rigorous critique, for dissent, or we are doomed to reproduce in progressive communities the very forms of domination we seek to oppose.
    bell hooks (b. c. 1955)

Culture is the name for what people are interested in, their thoughts, their models, the books they read and the speeches they hear, their table-talk, gossip, controversies, historical sense and scientific training, the values they appreciate, the quality of life they admire. All communities have a culture. It is the climate of their civilization.
    Walter Lippmann (1889–1974)

I am convinced, that if all men were to live as simply as I then did, thieving and robbery would be unknown. These take place only in communities where some have got more than is sufficient while others have not enough.
    Henry David Thoreau (1817–1862)
