It collects and actively restores historic war planes and classic airliners as well as rare civilian and military aircraft, with large number of historic aircraft on display to the public. It has also embarked on an ambitious project to restore its P-61B-1-NO Black Widow, recovered from New Guinea in 1989, to flying condition.

Famous quotes containing the words air and/or museum:

A hook shot kisses the rim and
hangs there, helplessly, but doesn’t drop

and for once our gangly starting center
boxes out his man and times his jump

    perfectly, gathering the orange leather
from the air like a cherished possession
    Edward Hirsch (b. 1950)

[A] Dada exhibition. Another one! What’s the matter with everyone wanting to make a museum piece out of Dada? Dada was a bomb ... can you imagine anyone, around half a century after a bomb explodes, wanting to collect the pieces, sticking it together and displaying it?
    Max Ernst (1891–1976)
