Quiet Music 1 (1986) is an album by the American ambient musician Steve Roach.
Quiet Music 1 was the first part of a series of three cassette releases. The material on these cassettes was commissioned for several "healing arts" programs and was recorded between the years 1983 and 1986. They have a pastoral and reassuring atmosphere that is rare in Steve Roach’s albums. Quiet Music 1 features a mixture of electronic textures, nature recordings and flute.

Famous quotes containing the words quiet and/or music:
“The setting sun is reflected from the windows of the alms-house as brightly as from the rich mans abode; the snow melts before its door as early in the spring. I do not see but a quiet mind may live as contentedly there, and have as cheering thoughts, as in a palace.”
—Henry David Thoreau (18171862)
“Nearly all the bands are mustered out of service; ours therefore is a novelty. We marched a few miles yesterday on a road where troops have not before marched. It was funny to see the children. I saw our boys running after the music in many a group of clean, bright-looking, excited little fellows.”
—Rutherford Birchard Hayes (18221893)
