Switching Stations
The line had switching stations at each end of the span. At the Calabrian station, Cannitello, (38°14′29.16″N 15°41′20.27″E / 38.2414333°N 15.6889639°E / 38.2414333; 15.6889639 (Cannitello Switching Station)), the conductors were fixed tightly to a strainer portal. At the Sicilian station at Torre Faro (38°16′8″N 15°38′45″E / 38.26889°N 15.64583°E / 38.26889; 15.64583 (Torre Faro Switching Station)), the conductors were tensioned by a device providing constant force, which was situated in a building with two towers.

Famous quotes containing the word stations:
“A reader who quarrels with postulates, who dislikes Hamlet because he does not believe that there are ghosts or that people speak in pentameters, clearly has no business in literature. He cannot distinguish fiction from fact, and belongs in the same category as the people who send cheques to radio stations for the relief of suffering heroines in soap operas.”
—Northrop Frye (b. 1912)
