Al Haj S.E.M Asenkhudoos- Former MP of Puttalam and has developed Puttalam considerably. He and Naina Marrikar are the only elected MPs in the history of Puttalam. He built the Asenkhudoos stadium and Asenkhudoos school. He also helped hundreds of people get jobs. He was a surveyor and architect by profession and he was the one who designed the construction of the Puttalam Grand Mosque.

M.H.M Naina Marrikar- Former Finance and planning Minister, has helped hundreds of poor people and donated lands to them.

A.H.M Ismail- Former Speaker of House of Representatives in Colombo,Sri Lanka.

AL Haj Mahmood Hasrath- Former head of Cassimiya Madrasa and a respected Islamic cleric. Muammer Gadaffi visited him when he visited Sri Lanka in the '80s.

Chairman K.A Biaz- Former Deputy Minister and current chairman of Puttalam. He is currently developing Puttalam by endorsing the construction of a Market complex in Puttalam and has also refurbished the Puttalam beachfront. He also has plans to build hotels in Puttlaam and make it a tourist hub. He also has other development plans in pending.

E.S.M Mudalali- At his time in the '50s he was arguably the richest man in the country and had Hundreds of thousands of acres of cocunut estate. He donated the land for the Cassimiya madrasa and a mosque nearby. He also funded the construction of the Puttalam Grand Mosque.
