Prytaneis

The Prytaneis (πρυτάνεις; sing.: πρύτανις prytanis) were the executives of the boule of ancient Athens. The term (like basileus or tyrannos) is probably of pre-Greek origin (possibly cognate to Etruscan (e)pruni).
