Famous quotes containing the word names:

Tonight there are only the winter stars.
The sky is no longer a junk-shop,
Full of javelins and old fire-balls,
Triangles and the names of girls.
    Wallace Stevens (1879–1955)

Far from being antecedent principles that animate the process, law, language, truth are but abstract names for its results.
    William James (1842–1910)

They are not even now as concerned about the health of their fame as men are, and, speaking generally, will pass a tombstone or a signpost without feeling an irresistible desire to cut their names on it.
    Virginia Woolf (1882–1941)
