Pecatonica High School (Wisconsin) - Recognition

Recognition

In 2005, Pecatonica received a Standing Up for Rural Schools, Communities, and Libraries award from the Wisconsin Superintendent of Schools. The award provides recognition of rural communities that advocate for schools, libraries, and lifestyle at a time when the communities are financially challenged. "We have strong schools because of the capable teachers and administrators, engaged business and community leaders, and active parents working together to keep schools strong," Burmaster said. The Pecatonica High School's Future Problem Solving team has also won numerous conference, and state championships as well as competing at Nationals and Internationals two times.

Famous quotes containing the word recognition:

Productive collaborations between family and school, therefore, will demand that parents and teachers recognize the critical importance of each other’s participation in the life of the child. This mutuality of knowledge, understanding, and empathy comes not only with a recognition of the child as the central purpose for the collaboration but also with a recognition of the need to maintain roles and relationships with children that are comprehensive, dynamic, and differentiated.
    Sara Lawrence Lightfoot (20th century)

While you are nurturing your newborn, you need someone to nurture you, whether it is with healthful drinks while you’re nursing, or with words of recognition and encouragement as you talk about your feelings. In this state of continual giving to your infant—whether it is nourishment or care or love—you are easily drained, and you need to be replenished from sources outside yourself so that you will have reserves to draw from.
    Sally Placksin (20th century)

Tragedy, as you know, is always a fait accompli, whereas terror always has to do with anticipation, with man’s recognition of his own negative potential—with his sense of what he is capable of.
    Joseph Brodsky (b. 1940)
