Famous quotes containing the words peace, arch and/or monument:
“Lord Salisbury and myself have brought you back peacebut a peace I hope with honour.”
—Benjamin Disraeli (18041881)
“Men themselves have wondered
What they see in me.
They try so much
But they cant touch
My inner mystery.
When I try to show them,
They say they still cant see.
I say,
Its in the arch of my back,
The sun of my smile,
The ride of my breasts,
The grace of my style.
Im a woman
Phenomenally.
Phenomenal woman,
Thats me.”
—Maya Angelou (b. 1928)
“The volatile truth of our words should continually betray the inadequacy of the residual statement. Their truth is instantly translated; its literal monument alone remains.”
—Henry David Thoreau (18171862)
