Pasir Ris MRT Station - Platform Screen Doors

Platform Screen Doors

Pasir Ris MRT Station was one of the many above ground stations built in the past with no platform screen doors to prevent commuters from falling into the train tracks. However on 13 August 2009, Pasir Ris MRT Station became the first above ground MRT Station in Singapore to begin installing half height platform screen doors. On 1 November 2009, the platform screen doors were fully completed and started operations.

Famous quotes containing the words platform, screen and/or doors:

I have never yet spoken from a public platform about women in industry that someone has not said, “But things are far better than they used to be.” I confess to impatience with persons who are satisfied with a dangerously slow tempo of progress for half of society in an age which requires a much faster tempo than in the days that “used to be.” Let us use what might be instead of what has been as our yardstick!
    Mary Barnett Gilson (1877–?)

She was custom built for the pictures—teeny tiny, one inch less than five foot, and a perfectly enormous head. Her face went right from one side of the screen to the other. Gloria Swanson was like that, as well. Joan Crawford, too. You need the big face, for the closeups.
    Angela Carter (1940–1992)

With his head over his shoulder turned,
He seemed to find his way without his eyes,
For out o’ doors he went without their help,
And to the last bended their light on me.
    William Shakespeare (1564–1616)
