Pasir Ris MRT Station was one of the many above ground stations built in the past with no platform screen doors to prevent commuters from falling into the train tracks. However on 13 August 2009, Pasir Ris MRT Station became the first above ground MRT Station in Singapore to begin installing half height platform screen doors. Famous quotes containing the words platform, screen and/or doors:
“I have rather a strange objection to talking from the back platform of a train.... It changes too often. It moves around and shifts its ground too often. I like a platform that stays put.”
—Woodrow Wilson (18561924)
“Western man represents himself, on the political or psychological stage, in a spectacular world-theater. Our personality is innately cinematic, light-charged projections flickering on the screen of Western consciousness.”
—Camille Paglia (b. 1947)
“Everywhere I am hindered of meeting God in my brother, because he has shut his own temple doors and recites fables merely of his brothers, or his brothers brothers God.”
—Ralph Waldo Emerson (18031882)
