Paradise Rock Club - Reputable Performers

Reputable Performers

The Irish rock band U2 played a landmark show at the Paradise Rock Club on March 6, 1981. They opened for the band Barooga Bandit and drew a crowd of five hundred people. U2's Boy album had recently risen out of England's pot-punk scene, and they were beginning to gain radio airplay in America. The band chose Boston as one of its first locations to promote this album. The concert was recorded for their live album Live from Boston 1981.

Famous quotes containing the words reputable and/or performers:

    Up the reputable walks of old established trees
    They stalk, children of the nouveaux riches; chimes
    Of the tall Clock Tower drench their heads in blessing:
    “I don’t wanna play at your house;
    I don’t like you any more.”
    My house stands opposite, on the other hill,
    William Dewitt Snodgrass (b. 1926)

    ... we performers are monsters. We are a totally different, far-out race of people. I totally and completely admit, with no qualms at all, my egomania, my selfishness, coupled with a really magnificent voice.
    Leontyne Price (b. 1927)
