Pancratistatin (PST) is a natural compound initially extracted from Spider Lily, a Hawaiian native plant, belonging to the family Amaryllidaceae (AMD). PST has shown some strong anti cancer activities by displaying potent toxicity against human tumor cells. Another distinct feature of PST as an anti cancer secondary metabolite is its ability in inducing apoptosis in cancer cells by targeting their mitochondria, while leaving the normal cells unaffected.
