Pan-Pacific Auditorium - Cultural Echoes

Cultural Echoes

A nearly full-scale, stylized replica of the facade opened as the main entrance to Disney's Hollywood Studios theme park in Florida on May 1, 1989, three weeks before the original was destroyed by fire. Disney California Adventure Park, at the Disneyland Resort, opened new entrance gates in the style of the Pan-Pacific's facade on July 15, 2011.

Famous quotes containing the words cultural and/or echoes:

    They’re semiotic phantoms, bits of deep cultural imagery that have split off and taken on a life of their own, like those Jules Verne airships that those old Kansas farmers were always seeing.... Semiotic ghosts. Fragments of the Mass Dream, whirling past in the wind of my passage.
    William Gibson (b. 1948)

    The splendor falls on castle walls
    And snowy summits old in story;
    The long light shakes across the lakes,
    And the wild cataract leaps in glory.
    Blow, bugle, blow, set the wild echoes flying,
    Blow, bugle; answer, echoes, dying, dying, dying.
    Alfred Tennyson (1809–1892)
