Oxford United Stars Youth Academy

Oxford United Youth Academy is fronted with their MINI SOCCER CENTRE . The Centre was the brain child of the Oxford Chairman Noel Crampsey. Players aged from 4 – 11 years old attend . Oxford run this on a Saturday morning as an introduction to all new players and any players from the age of 8 who show good progress will be asked to attend mid week squad training. Oxford have a habit of playing their younger teams at older age group to help them progress quicker which has been evident mostly at under 8, under 9 & under 10 . The first team to progress from the Mini Soccer Centre is the Current Under 15 (1996) squad. They play in the Elite Section of the National League . However their biggest achievement was winning the Scotland International Cup 2009 without conceding a goal. Another fantastic success for the Centre was the NW League Foyle Cup 2010 winning team had no less than 15 Oxford players in the squad, with Oxford captain Caolan O Donnell scoring the winner in the final. Many of the coaches who had coached in the mini soccer centre have now moved on to the National League and Derry & District Youth League. However fortunately for Oxford they have Paul Concannon, Kevin Heaney, Emmett McCallion, Les Masterton, Noel Crampsey (JNR), David Thornton, Rory Kehoe and Eamon Wilkinson to see through the next wave of talent with the Centre still going from strength to strength.

The popular colleges of the United States are turning out more educated people with less originality and fewer geniuses than any other country.

I cannot give them my confidence; pardon me, gentlemen, confidence is a plant of slow growth in an aged bosom: youth is the season of credulity.

The academy is not paradise. But learning is a place where paradise can be created.
