Ovwian

Ovwian is one of the country side towns in the Udu Clan known as Udu Local Government, Delta State, Nigeria.It is a fast developing area close to Warri city. The Delta Steel Company has a Plant facilities located on the land of Ovwian and Aladja Communities of Udu Clan. Most of the people are either steel workers, fishermen, hunters or farmers, businessmen/women or traders. There is also a Traditional King who rules over the town. Christianity is the most practised religion. It has a population of over 32000 people including indigenes and non indigenes.The Udu River runs through Ovwian town and is also accessible to the larger Warri River and the River Niger and the Atlantic Ocean. Ovwian community has Ovwian primary school located inside the town, Ovwian secondary school in the outskirt leading to Ujevwu and numerous private schools. Ovwian have three major markets as Ovwian main market traded every seven days located in the middle of the town, udu main market and udu harbour market located along udu bridge road respectively and a private market called Jibgale market owned by the Jigbale family of Ovwian beside Ovwian round about. Ovwian shares boundaries with Aladja, Ekete, Owhase and Ujevwu communities,Its also the biggest town in the udu local government area.
