The single was released on January 18, 2005 in the United States and released on July 12, 2005 in the United Kingdom. The song peaked at #1 on the Bubbling Under Hot 100 chart where it stayed for three weeks. It peaked at #27 on the Australia ARIA Charts. This was also her first single in the UK, so far it is the only single she has released there.
"Over" was less successful than her earlier single ("Rumors") in the United States (even though it charted five spots higher), but it did well in other countries, especially Ireland.
