The Orto Botanico di Palermo (Palermo Botanical Garden) is both a botanical garden and a research and educational institution of the Department of Botany of the University of Palermo. The garden lies within the city of Palermo (38°06′48.39″N 13°22′21.68″E / 38.1134417°N 13.3726889°E / 38.1134417; 13.3726889), at 10 metres above sea-level. It covers about 30 acres (0 km2) on top of red soil that has evolved on a calcareous tufaceous substratum.
