Orion Expedition Cruises - History

History

Founded by Australian business woman Sarina Bratton in early 2004, Orion Expedition Cruises (OEC) began actual cruising operations in March 2005 with the repositioning cruise of the MV Orion from Papeete, Tahiti in French Polynesia to Sydney, Australia via the Cook Islands, Samoa, New Caledonia, Fiji and Lord Howe Island. Since then OEC has been operating Australian-based expedition-style cruises in areas as diverse as the Antarctic continent to Papua New Guinea and the Solomon Islands.

Orion II is very similar to Orion with 100 guests catered for by 70 crew. Orion II will be based in South-East Asia visiting Borneo, The Russian Far East, Inland Sea of Japan and Vietnam.

Famous quotes containing the word history:

The history of all hitherto existing society is the history of class struggles.
    Karl Marx (1818–1883)

We don’t know when our name came into being or how some distant ancestor acquired it. We don’t understand our name at all, we don’t know its history and yet we bear it with exalted fidelity, we merge with it, we like it, we are ridiculously proud of it as if we had thought it up ourselves in a moment of brilliant inspiration.
    Milan Kundera (b. 1929)

Social history might be defined negatively as the history of a people with the politics left out.
    —G.M. (George Macaulay)
