History
O.B. Montessori Center started among the poor in Sapang Palay, Bulacan where Dr. Preciosa S. Soliven managed preschools for the poor established by Operation Brotherhood International, then headed by Oscar Arellano.
An Italian scholarship grant allowed Dr. Soliven to complete her Montessori preschool course at the Association Montessori Internationale in Perugia, Italy and London in 1964 while OBMC Chief Operating Officer Sara Soliven De Guzman completed the Montessori Elementary Course at the Montessori Institute in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA in 1994.
The first O.B. Montessori Casa (Preschool) was organized by Dr. Soliven at the Syquia Apartments in Malate, Manila. The grade school level opened in 1970 and the Professional High School was established in 1983. In 1995, O.B. Montessori College opened, specializing in Culinary Arts and Early Childhood Montessori Education.
After four decades of changing the lives of many Filipino families, OBMC has gone beyond its academic programs. It has five fully enrolled branches in Manila, Greenhills, Las Piñas, Fairview and Angeles, Pampanga; a 16-hectare farm in Alfonso, Cavite; several ecumenical shrines; a 30-year-old Child and Community Foundation and a new school of Culinary Arts - Istituto Culinario. It has become the country’s premier co-educational institution that nurtures the inner teacher of the child and develops him holistically through its Prepared Environment, specially trained teachers and innovative curriculum.

Famous quotes containing the word history:
“The history of modern art is also the history of the progressive loss of arts audience. Art has increasingly become the concern of the artist and the bafflement of the public.”
—Henry Geldzahler (19351994)
“The history of reform is always identical; it is the comparison of the idea with the fact. Our modes of living are not agreeable to our imagination. We suspect they are unworthy. We arraign our daily employments.”
—Ralph Waldo Emerson (18031882)
“Both place and time were changed, and I dwelt nearer to those parts of the universe and to those eras in history which had most attracted me.”
—Henry David Thoreau (18171862)
