Development
Onimusha was originally being developed for the PlayStation, but the project was eventually moved to the PS2. The PlayStation version was scrapped and never released. The PS1 version of Onimusha was about 50% complete before it was cancelled.
The saga's storyline was written by Noboru Sugimura and Flagship. The game's orchestral music was created by Mamoru Samuragochi, who was deaf, and performed by New Japan Philharmonic. Character movements were created using motion capture. Resident Evil creator Shinji Mikami is credited as an adviser to the game's production team.

Famous quotes containing the word development:
“Good schools are schools for the development of the whole child. They seek to help children develop to their maximum their social powers and their intellectual powers, their emotional capacities, their physical powers.”
—James L. Hymes, Jr. (20th century)
“Dissonance between family and school, therefore, is not only inevitable in a changing society; it also helps to make children more malleable and responsive to a changing world. By the same token, one could say that absolute homogeneity between family and school would reflect a static, authoritarian society and discourage creative, adaptive development in children.”
—Sara Lawrence Lightfoot (20th century)
“There are two things which cannot be attacked in front: ignorance and narrow-mindedness. They can only be shaken by the simple development of the contrary qualities. They will not bear discussion.”
—John Emerich Edward Dalberg, 1st Baron Acton (18341902)
