Old Catholic ministry is a small and developing aspect of Christian ministry and often reflects a growing diversification within niche chaplaincy. Ordained ministry within the Old Catholic Church in the United Kingdom is small in scale when compared to the large Christian denominations such as the Anglicans and Roman Catholics; its Lay Ministry remains undeveloped in comparison to larger denominations. A lack of funding has been experienced by Old Catholics which is in contrast to that traditionally available to large denominations. Smaller scale Old Catholic ministry may become more important with the declining church attendances witnessed in Western Europe, whereby larger denominations are unable to support their relatively expensive ministry.

Famous quotes containing the words catholic and/or ministry:
“Carlyle is not a seer, but a brave looker-on and reviewer; not the most free and catholic observer of men and events, for they are likely to find him preoccupied, but unexpectedly free and catholic when they fall within the focus of his lens.”
—Henry David Thoreau (18171862)
“The State has but one face for me: that of the police. To my eyes, all of the States ministries have this single face, and I cannot imagine the ministry of culture other than as the police of culture, with its prefect and commissioners.”
