Statistics

Oceans occupy 71 percent of the Earth's surface. They are divided into five major oceans, which in decreasing order of size are: the Pacific Ocean, Atlantic Ocean, Indian Ocean, Southern Ocean, and Arctic Ocean. Over 70 percent of the world catch from the sea comes from the Pacific Ocean.

Famous quotes containing the word statistics:

We ask for no statistics of the killed,
    For nothing political impinges on
This single casualty, or all those gone,
Missing or healing, sinking or dispersed,
Hundreds of thousands counted, millions lost.
    Karl Shapiro (b. 1913)

July 4. Statistics show that we lose more fools on this day than in all the other days of the year put together. This proves, by the number left in stock, that one Fourth of July per year is now inadequate, the country has grown so.
Mark Twain [Samuel Langhorne Clemens] (1835–1910)

We already have the statistics for the future: the growth percentages of pollution, overpopulation, desertification. The future is already in place.
    Günther Grass (b. 1927)
