OC Transpo Route 2 - History

History

Route 2 used to have its eastern terminus at Blair and its western terminus at Bayshore. It was often late because of the route's long length: 1hr 10min during non-peak times and as much as 1hr 40min during rush hour. A reason for this is that it went all the way through-town, crossing Downtown and making frequent stops. The route was split into route 2 to the west of the Rideau Centre and route 12 to the east.

Famous quotes containing the word history:

History ... is, indeed, little more than the register of the crimes, follies, and misfortunes of mankind.
But what experience and history teach is this—that peoples and governments have never learned anything from history, or acted on principles deduced from it.
    Georg Wilhelm Friedrich Hegel (1770–1831)

The history of reform is always identical; it is the comparison of the idea with the fact. Our modes of living are not agreeable to our imagination. We suspect they are unworthy. We arraign our daily employments.
    Ralph Waldo Emerson (1803–1882)

Throughout the history of commercial life nobody has ever quite liked the commission man. His function is too vague, his presence always seems one too many, his profit looks too easy, and even when you admit that he has a necessary function, you feel that this function is, as it were, a personification of something that in an ethical society would not need to exist. If people could deal with one another honestly, they would not need agents.
    Raymond Chandler (1888–1959)
