Famous quotes containing the words northern, leopard and/or frog:

    Sophocles long ago
Heard it on the Aegaean, and it brought
Into his mind the turbid ebb and flow
    Of human misery; we
Find also in the sound a thought,
Hearing it by this distant northern sea.
    Matthew Arnold (1822–1888)

There are other letters for the child to learn than those which Cadmus invented. The Spaniards have a good term to express this wild and dusky knolwedge, Grammatica parda, tawny grammar, a kind of mother-wit derived from that same leopard to which I have referred.
    Henry David Thoreau (1817–1862)

A frog in love would not be enchanted to learn that her beloved had turned into Prince Charming.
    Mason Cooley (b. 1927)
