Northampton High School (Massachusetts) - Theatre Program

Theatre Program

Within the school is a 709-seat proscenium theater, library, gymnasium, and band rehearsal rooms. A Black box theater was recently added, providing an alternative performing space. In the fall there is usually a Shakespeare play; in the winter, a musical; and in the spring one or two seniors are given the opportunity to produce, direct, and put up a show of their own.

Famous quotes containing the words theatre and/or program:

The History of the world is not the theatre of happiness. Periods of happiness are blank pages in it, for they are periods of harmony—periods when the antithesis is in abeyance.
    Georg Wilhelm Friedrich Hegel (1770–1831)

Most of the folktales dealing with the Indians are lurid and romantic. The story of the Indian lovers who were refused permission to wed and committed suicide is common to many places. Local residents point out cliffs where Indian maidens leaped to their death until it would seem that the first duty of all Indian girls was to jump off cliffs.
