North East Derbyshire (UK Parliament Constituency) - Boundaries

Boundaries

The North East Derbyshire constituency covers the north eastern part of Derbyshire, surrounding Chesterfield on three sides.

It generally covers the area of North East Derbyshire District Council, however, in the south the wards of Pilsley, Sutton Scarsdale and others are outside the constituency and, in the north, the Chesterfield Borough council ward of Staveley is included in the constituency.

The seat has many former mining villages and, despite some middle-class residential commuting areas for Sheffield, which are Conservative, such as Wingerworth and Dronfield, it has been generally a safe seat for Labour.

Following the 2007 electoral borders review, the constituency changed shape slightly (see both maps in this article for details).

Famous quotes containing the word boundaries:

Women’s art, though created in solitude, wells up out of community. There is, clearly, both enormous hunger for the work thus being diffused, and an explosion of creative energy, bursting through the coercive choicelessness of the system on whose boundaries we are working.
    Adrienne Rich (b. 1929)

We must be generously willing to leave for a time the narrow boundaries in which our individual lives are passed ... In this fresh, breezy atmosphere ... we will be surprised to find that many of our familiar old conventional truths look very queer indeed in some of the sudden side lights thrown upon them.
    Bertha Honore Potter Palmer (1849–1918)

Whereas the Greeks gave to will the boundaries of reason, we have come to put the will’s impulse in the very center of reason, which has, as a result, become deadly.
    Albert Camus (1913–1960)
