Conclusion

The Viking ships, built in Scandinavia featured superior sailing characteristics which helped the Vikings extend their raids in Northern Europe to Vineland (Newfoundland). They also showed great craftsmanship. Both aspects made the Vikings proud artists, warriors and craftsmen and are currently deeply admired by contemporary naval architects.
