Employer Petitions
Employers may petition for an election if a union has demanded recognition, but has not petitioned for an election itself. A unionized employer may also ask the Board to hold an election to determine whether its employees want to continue to be represented by their union; it must show that it has a good faith uncertainty as to the union’s majority status.

Famous quotes containing the words employer and/or petitions:
“If factory-labor is not a means of education to the operative of to-day, it is because the employer does not do his duty. It is because he treats his work-people like machines, and forgets that they are struggling, hoping, despairing human beings.”
—Harriet H. Robinson (18251911)
“Christ has called us to new visions
Here to celebrate and praise,
Here confess our old divisions,
Here our peace petitions raise.
Come repentant, come forgiving,
Come in joy and hope and prayer.
Christ, once crucified, now living,
Bids us faith and love to share.”
—Jane Parker Huber (b. 1926)
