Hurricane Sandy

The New York Aquarium was significantly damaged by Hurricane Sandy which severely flooded the facility and shut down power resulting in the death of many fish who relied on the electricity to the run their exhibits aeration systems and heaters. A small group of WCS staff who remained onsite during the hurricane were able to save the rest of the animals. The aquarium will partially reopen on May 25 at 10 a.m. EST.
