New Jersey Transit Rail Operations

New Jersey Transit Rail Operations (reporting mark NJTR) is the rail division of New Jersey Transit. It provides commuter rail service in New Jersey, with most service centered around transportation to and from New York City, Hoboken, and Newark. NJTR also operates rail service in Orange and Rockland counties in New York State under contract to Metro-North Railroad. This does not include New Jersey Transit's light rail operations.

Famous quotes containing the words jersey, transit, rail and/or operations:

Ladies and gentlemen, I have a grave announcement to make. Incredible as it may seem, strange beings who landed in New Jersey tonight are the vanguard of an invading army from Mars.
    Orson Welles (1915–1984)

My esoteric doctrine, is that if you entertain any doubt, it is safest to take the unpopular side in the first instance. Transit from the unpopular, is easy ... but from the popular to the unpopular is so steep and rugged that it is impossible to maintain it.
William Lamb Melbourne, 2nd Viscount (1779–1848)

Old man, it’s four flights up and for what?
Your room is hardly any bigger than your bed.
Puffing as you climb, you are a brown woodcut
stooped over the thin rail and the wornout tread.
    Anne Sexton (1928–1974)

A sociosphere of contact, control, persuasion and dissuasion, of exhibitions of inhibitions in massive or homeopathic doses...: this is obscenity. All structures turned inside out and exhibited, all operations rendered visible. In America this goes all the way from the bewildering network of aerial telephone and electric wires ... to the concrete multiplication of all the bodily functions in the home, the litany of ingredients on the tiniest can of food, the exhibition of income or IQ.
    Jean Baudrillard (b. 1929)
