Services
The typical off peak train service per hour is:
- 2 northbound, calling at all stations to Cannon Street
- 2 northbound, calling at all stations to Ladywell then fast to London Bridge, Waterloo East and Charing Cross
- 4 southbound, calling at all stations to Hayes on the Hayes line
The first station was opened by the South Eastern Railway on 1 April 1864 adjacent to the north side of Bridge Road. The present station, further to the north, was opened in 1866 when the first station was closed. The station was rebuilt in 1904-6. South of the station is a curve to Beckenham Junction, following the path of the original Mid-Kent Line from Lewisham to Beckenham. It is served by two trains a day.

Famous quotes containing the word services:
“True love ennobles and dignifies the material labors of life; and homely services rendered for loves sake have in them a poetry that is immortal.”
—Harriet Beecher Stowe (18111896)
“Men will say that in supporting their wives, in furnishing them with houses and food and clothes, they are giving the women as much money as they could ever hope to earn by any other profession. I grant it; but between the independent wage-earner and the one who is given his keep for his services is the difference between the free-born and the chattel.”
—Elizabeth M. Gilmer (18611951)
“The community and family networks which helped sustain earlier generations have become scarcer for growing numbers of young parents. Those who lack links to these traditional sources of support are hard-pressed to find other resources, given the emphasis in our society on providing treatment services, rather than preventive services and support for health maintenance and well-being.”
—Bernice Weissbourd (20th century)
