Never Say Goodbye (Yoko Ono Song)

"Never Say Goodbye" is the second single from Yoko Ono's 1982 album It's Alright (I See Rainbows). Like many of Ono's songs from this period, the lyrics deal with her emotional healing following the murder of her husband John Lennon. The upbeat New Wave song samples a recording of Lennon screaming Yoko's name from their Wedding Album, followed by her son Sean waking her up, as if it were a bad dream. The song garnered minor airplay upon release. "Loneliness" appeared on the B-side. The 1995 New York Rock version was also released as a single.

Famous quotes containing the words goodbye and/or ono:

The colicky baby who becomes calm, the quiet infant who throws temper tantrums at two, the wild child at four who becomes serious and studious at six all seem to surprise their parents. It is difficult to let go of one’s image of a child, say goodbye to the child a parent knows, and get accustomed to this slightly new child inhabiting the known child’s body.
    Ellen Galinsky (20th century)

Everybody’s an artist. Everybody’s God. It’s just that they’re inhibited. I believe in people so much that if the whole of civilization is burned so we don’t have any memory of it, even then people will start to build their own art. It is a necessity—a function. We don’t need history.
    —Yoko Ono (b. 1933)
